Have you ever owned something and wanted to sell it when you felt like it wasn’t benefiting you? This happens when we are burned out from waiting on a truth to bring results in our life. You make necessary changes and preparations in your life, but don’t see results of your truth. You become frustrated and ready to stop attempting to live in your truth. Your truth may be your purpose, relationship, faith, health, career, or complete life transformation. The truth is your truth wasn’t made aware to you to sell it. Your truth was made aware to you to own it by living it. We sell our rights to our truth when we don’t live it and compromise ourselves to live a life with factors that work against us.

Think for a moment when a person purchases a home. When they take ownership of the home, they are responsible for the maintenance, property taxes, insurance, mortgage, or any additional cost relevant to the home. They have control over how they will use the home. They may decide to lease the home. When the home is leased, the owner give the occupants permission to do what they want to the home. Leasing the home is a compromise for the owner. In addition, the owner may decide to sell the home. Selling the home includes them giving giving up ownership of the home.

The method of owning a home applies to owning your truth. When you own your truth, you make the sacrifice to not compromise it. This may include being discipline, diligent, patient, forgiving, investing, learning, believing, setting goals, or having a vision. You pay the price to hold on to your truth when you are not experiencing it. When doubt, fear, rejection, anger, or inpatient occurs, we are tempted to lease out our truth and compromise ourselves from living it. Quitting is selling our truth and giving up the total right to live it. We live a cycle of the same results in our life that we don’t want when we sell our truth.

What truth are you waiting to experience? How do you keep ownership of your truth when circumstances are tempting you to quit? The following are keys to owning your truth:

  1. Receive your truth. Receiving your truth put you in a position to accept it all cost. The key to receiving is remaining in the process of living your truth. This includes using your faith and being committed.

  2. Keep your eyes on your truth and move forward. Attempting to figure out how it will show up in your life put you in a state of worry and anxiety. Continuing to be persistent and patient with the process while being in the moment in daily living, helps you maintain your ownership of your truth.

  3. Accept your imperfection. You will mess up and feel you are not qualified to live your truth. Don’t allow your imperfection to hold you back from receiving your truth. When imperfection shows up, make a decision to work on your flaws. Make small changes.

  4. Connect to an empowering environment. Connect with people who celebrate you and desire to grow with you. Environments that do not empower you create challenges to live your truth.

  5. Expect your truth. Live with the expectation of your truth showing up in your life. Expectation include you thinking the end result versus what’s not working.

Daily we are challenged to compromise our truth. We can overcome the challenge by taking ownership of what belongs to us even when we are not seeing the results. After all, it is your truth. How will you take ownership of your truth?
