Commercials hold my interest for a short period. I do not remember five commercials I seen in the past six months. However, I remember public service announcements from my childhood years. The one I remember most is the "This Is Your Brain on Drugs" campaign. The illustration of the fried egg being the brain on drugs was clear to me how drugs effect the body. Overall, the messages in public service announcements bring understanding to the campaigns. What would be your public service announcement if you had the opportunity to share your passion? My public service announcement is Living Your Purpose. Why? Your purpose is the root to living the life you desire. This is living the life you were created for. We were born with talents to serve others. Are you living your purpose? Are you tired of your weekly routine?

“There’s no way I was born just to pay bills and die”

I thought my career in state government was my place of promotion, recognition, and retirement. As my years of service increased, dread and frustration flooded my mind. I didn’t know what was wrong with me until I entered the awareness that I was living a life of existing. Through the years, I was sweeping under the rug red flags that I was existing. I had no commitment towards living my purpose including negative beliefs about myself and a vision of the past and present. My life of existing before discovering my purpose included two episodes of depression. Choosing to live my purpose moved me away from living with dread, frustration, and depression .

Living with dread and frustration are symptoms of a life of existing. A life of existing is living with factors that against you. This include not living your purpose. Exist is defined as living, especially under adverse conditions.

You can start living your purpose now. There is no right time to start. The life of existing will always put circumstances in front of you that says it’s not the right time. Yes, you have a career, family, and additional commitments, but you must make time to leave the life of existing.

The following are 3 steps to moving toward your purpose:

  1. Avoid Self Judgement. Don’t judge yourself. Purpose is a sensitive topic to discuss. We have experienced failures, rejections, anger, fears, etc. When we are experiencing negative emotions, we judge ourselves through our current situation. However, purpose speaks to our potential.

  2. Make living your purpose a priority. You have to take care of yourself first before you can help others. Make discovering your purpose and developing your purpose an urgent matter in your life.

  3. Be proactive about your life. Making the decision to live your purpose put you in a place to choose what’s best for you before life circumstance make a decision for you. We were not designed to react to situations, but to be strategic about our life. Being proactive includes separating yourself from factors that work against you.

What factors are working against you living your purpose? Are you ready to live your purpose? My Living Your Purpose Program will strategically guide you through additional steps to begin living your purpose. You will connect with truths about you that will create the fulfillment you deserve in life.
