Have you ever had a moment of silence when you felt frustrated? There are times when situations don’t go as planned. You did everything you knew was right, but experienced a setback or defeat. The setback or defeat doesn’t

mean to abort your vision or goals. It means to change your plans. This is when a time of silence is needed.

There is time and purpose for everything. This includes a time of silence. Silence is a weapon that is best used during times of adversity. Before you decide to react to an adverse situation, choose a time of silence to quiet your mind and emotions. This include settling your will to not make a decision that could make your adversity worst.

Here are four steps that will help you during your time of silence:

  1. Stop thinking about the situation. If you are a person of faith, pray about the situation and cast your care on God.

  2. Write your thoughts and feelings in a journal. This allows you to release your response to the situation.

  3. Focus on positive results you expect from the situation. Set your expectation on positive results even when you can’t see or know how the situation will turn out.

  4. Affirm your belief on what you expect. This include saying confessions of your vision.

The following are five benefits to taking action on being silent during adversity:

  1. Silence renews your strength. This helps you stay committed to the process of what your expecting in your life.

  2. Silence neutralize your negative emotions. Adversity activates negative emotions. Silence stops you from including negative emotions when making a decision.

  3. Your creativity increases when you are silent. You are able to think outside the box regarding the situation. Trying to come up with options while you are frustrated keeps you in the mindset of limited thinking.

  4. Silence brings clarity to how you should move forward from a setback or defeat. You know what direction to take with clarity.

  5. Silence refuels your confidence. Your confidence is renewed to assert your effort to move forward with a new plan.

Silence provides the opportunity for you to recreate a game plan for your vision. Keep your vision in front of you when you experience a setback or defeat. Change the plan not the vision. How will silence serve you during a time of adversity?
