Your Influence is in Demand

I’m gonna make a change. For once in my life. It’s gonna feel real good. Gonna make a difference. Gonna make it right. These are the beginning lyrics to the song “Man In The Mirror” by Michael Jackson. This song is a call to action for everyone to change. We must be the change we want to see before we see change in our society. This is a requirement to be a person of influence. The leader we are all called to be. There are 7 Cultural Mountains of Influence that need change agents. They are arts & entertainment, business, media, education, family, and religion.

This is part of God' s Great Commission for our life. Jesus commissioned us to go and teach all nations. Our life purpose, talent, character, values, and resources are the package of influence.

However, leadership begins with you and me. This is was a tough part for me. Before light could shine in the areas I wanted to see change, particularity in my home, business, and culture. I had to look in the mirror and be the change I wanted to see. This took me out of my comfort zone. I experienced growing pains.

My transformation of truth started with Psalms 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." God’s word was a lamp to show me where I was at and where I needed to be in my life. Then put me on the journey of where I needed to be. I did not have clarity of my influence. I had to renew my mind in the knowledge of God’s image before I could see the culture I’m commissioned to influence.

The following is the reason I share my story. I thought my cultural influence was only towards professional sports. That idea was connected to my distorted self- image and my own way of doing things without fully submitting my heart and mind to God thoughts and ways for my life. Personal freedom comes when we align our spirit with God’s Spirit. This is why we should be in harmony with our spirit, soul, and body. This will cause you to use your influence with your talent and life purpose. This is our true mission of influence.
