Do you often want to give up on something when you are faced with fear, doubt, or uncertainty? Particularly, when you are in faith believing God for it? I learned a big lesson this week about living God’s plans for my life with my heart. Last week, I had an intense business session with a digital marketing coach. I woke up excited and nervous about the ideas I had about moving forward with my business. My excitement turned into uncertainty as I was learning new methods of digital marketing. This caused me to feel helpless. My ideas were thrown out and replaced with new ideas that requires a new mindset.

My heart weakened as I was thinking when will the uncertainty end. At the end of nearly a 12-hour one on one session, I had to deal with the truth that I had to step out of my comfort zone again. The next day, I woke up with fear, doubt, and uncertainty. A thought to quit came to my mind. This lead to another thought that I was not good enough. Negative thoughts invaded my mind the entire morning. Later that day the spirit of God revealed to me that I was setting my heart on issues that were feeding my negative thoughts.

One definition for heart is the seat of the affections and passions. I set my affections on my weaknesses instead of my strengths. Your heart holds your affection and passion for people and life. How do you feel when you think about someone you have affection for? The same affection you have for them is the same affection you must have towards God, yourself, and his plans for your life. Your energy and focus go towards what you are affectionate about. I turned my affection to what I was lacking to put new ideas to action. My energy and focus went towards my weaknesses. The affection towards my weakness brought on the negative thoughts. This affection minimized my self-worth along with valuing what I have accomplished.

The lesson I learned is to keep my affection towards God, myself, and what he has called me to do.

There are 4 truths you must apply in your life to keep moving forward with God’s plans for your life:

  1. Guard your heart. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. “

  2. Keep your faith. Hebrews 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please God: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”

  3. Keep your confidence. Hebrews 10:35 says, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which has great recompense of reward."

  4. Receive God’s strength. 2 Corinthians 12:9 says, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.”

I challenge you to examine an idea or vision God placed in your heart.

Do you have affection towards your idea or vision?

Have you stop pursuing it because of fear, doubt, or uncertainty?

How will you move forward to live God’s plans for your life?
