Hi, I know you are getting ready for Christmas!

Please take time to read this blog when you have time relax. It's important to know what you need to give up to move forward and experience more of what God has for you in 2019. This happens when you are intentional about living a spiritual lifestyle. I learned this lesson the hard way.

I kept God close in my heart as a single mother. I was faithful to God by living a spiritual lifestyle the first twelve years of my daughter’s life. I remember I was praying daily. Learning how to apply God’s word in my life. I would get God’s advice before making decisions. I made room for him in my life by making His thoughts and ways; my thoughts and ways. As life was going well for me, my spiritual life was fading. I put my eyes on “success” and less on God. This caused me to disconnect my mind, emotions, and determination from God. I went from freedom in Christ to toxic thoughts, emotions, anxiety, depression, etc. Literally, spiritually bankrupt.

I share this story because a spiritual lifestyle is your lifeline to experience well-being in your mind, will, and emotions. Your spiritual lifestyle in Christ determines the outcome of your life. This includes your health, relationships, finances, career, business, etc.

What do you want to experience for your life in 2019?

A spiritual lifestyle means to permanently live from your spirit. How you live your spiritual life daily will determine the results you get for your freedom in Christ. Why? When you received Christ in your heart, you were given the opportunity to experience freedom in Christ.

Galatians 5:1 (NIV) says, “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”

What do you want to be free from? Freedom starts with living from your spirit.

A spiritual lifestyle includes the following:

  • Faith in God with love (Galatians 5:6)

  • Serve people with humility and love (Galatians 5:13)

  • Love your neighbor as yourself (Galatians 5:14)

  • Allowing God to lead you (Galatians 5:18)

  • Character displaying the fruit of the Spirit which is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23)

A spiritual lifestyle comes with prayer. Along with studying and meditating on God’s word. This lifestyle starts and grows with sacrifice.

You must ask yourself: What are you willing to give up to increase your spiritual life for 2019?

The following are 5 questions to determine what to sacrifice for your spiritual lifestyle:

  1. How can you spend more time with God?

  2. What is hindering your spiritual growth?

  3. Who is not supportive of you growing spiritually?

  4. What environment is toxic to your spiritual growth?

  5. Do you have a church home to grow spiritually?

Christ has made you free to live your best life. Your freedom is connected to your spiritual lifestyle. Ask God to help you identify what you need to sacrifice and the strength to take action.

I challenge you to make a sacrifice to experience your best life in 2019!
