The one thing that I learned about personal and spiritual growth is you cannot do it alone. Growth occurs with mentors, like-minded people, and an environment that nurtures your hidden potential. The truth is people and environments cannot take you to your place of truth. They assist in nurturing your truth but only God can give the truth of who you are. John 16:13 says the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth.
Why is this important?
You need truth to conform to Jesus image. This is a promise from God. Romans 8:29 (CEB) says, “We know this because God knew them in advance, and he decided in advance that they would be conformed to the image of his Son. That way his Son would be the first of many brothers and sisters."
Jesus chose and appointed you to be like him. This promise from God is connected to the success of your relationships, health, finances, career, business, and most important your service to others.
There are times when you are drained. It’s energy being sapped from you. I would return home from work drained. I would eat and go to bed. What was lacking in my life? God’s strength. God strength is your source for energy. Literally, God gives you the energy to live. His energy for your life is released when you seek to conform to the image of Jesus.
One definition of conforming is made to resemble. God made you to resemble Jesus's character, mindset, love, service, influence, talent etc. like Jesus. This is your place of strength. This is why God looks throughout the earth to see who qualifies for his strength. 2 Chronicles 16:9 (NIV) says, “For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him..." God strengthen people whose hearts are fully committed to him.
Do you need God’s strength?
The following are 4 truths to receiving strength from God:
1. Have courage to pursue desires from God (1Chronicles 28:20)
2. Commit your mind to God (Philippians 2:5-8)
3. Commit your emotions to God (Colossians 3:1)
4. Commit your will to God (Hebrews 13:20-21)
