When you say, "I am free to know who I am in Christ."
You open your mind to knowing the truth of who God made you to become in His Image.
Galatians 5:1 (NIV) says, "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."
Jesus made you free to live life in Him without limitations.
Freedom is in your identity in Christ.
A story of freedom reminds me of the life of Elizabeth Keckley, who knew the truth of who she was in Christ.
Ms. Keckely was born into slavery and became a skilled seamstress while she was a slave.
During slavery, Keckley became a reputable seamstress among affluent women in St. Louis, Missouri.
Her desire and faith for freedom overpowered her circumstance of slavery.
Keckley asked her slave master if she could buy her freedom, and after several requests, her slave master agreed to sell her liberty for $1,200.
After slavery, Elizabeth Keckley became a seamstress at the White House. She served Mary Todd Lincoln, wife of Abraham Lincoln.
God made you in his image and likeness, according to Genesis 1:27.
Freedom in Christ comes when you seek to know the truth.
Jesus said in John 8:32 (NIV) says, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
Freedom comes to your spirit, soul, and body when you know how God made you in His Image.
Freedom brings clarity to knowing hidden desires in your heart.
Clarity of hidden desires includes but is not limited to:
Your identity in Christ
Your influence
Your talent
Your calling (includes your occupation)
Your creativity
God's plans for you
Vision for your future
One way to expand your freedom in Christ is to take pleasure in being made in God's image.
Pleasure is having gratification in your mind.
Psalm 139:14 (NIV) says, "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well."
God made you royal with influence, talents, and a calling to experience the freedom Jesus bought with His life.
You take pleasure in being made in God's image by owning the truth of who you are in Christ.
Proverbs 23:23 (NIV) says, "Buy the truth and do not sell it— wisdom, instruction and insight as well."
Take pleasure in the truth of who God made you in His image.
It is one way to gratify your mind and guard your heart.
It is your place of freedom in Christ.
Feel free to say the following prayer:
God, Thank you for creating me in your Image.
I believe freedom is knowing who I am in Christ. Teach me the truth of who I am in you. Instruct me on how to own my truth in how you made me. I take pleasure in how you made me in your Image.
In Jesus Name. Amen.
Be well.
Love and Blessings,
