The soul (mind, will, & emotions) operates best by rest from Jesus.
In other words, God made your soul to get rest from Jesus.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:29 AMP, "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me [following Me as My disciple], for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest (renewal, blessed quiet) for your souls."
Rest for the soul is a promise from God.
Hebrews 4:1 (GNT) says, "Now, God has offered us the promise that we may receive that rest he spoke about. Let us take care, then, that none of you will be found to have failed to receive that promised rest."
Jesus promises you a quiet/calm mind when you commit your mind, will, and emotions (soul) to his care.
Rest for the soul comes through a spiritual lifestyle. You can identify when your soul needs rest through a spiritual lifestyle.
I was dealing with racing thoughts about a circumstance that was heavy on my heart.
The racing thoughts lead me to try to solve a situation that only God can fix.
I decided to rest in Jesus after I realized the circumstance was weighing on my mind.
How do you stop racing thoughts when you are overwhelmed by
life circumstances?
You rest in Jesus.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28 (NIV), "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
Resting the soul is a call to action from Jesus. It's spiritual.
Spiritual rest in Christ is taking your rightful position with God.
You experience the following when you take your rightful position to rest in God:
Your spirit, soul, and body become quiet
You trust God
You receive more of God’s instructions and guidance
Life problems no longer disturb you
Your mind is calm without anxiety
You focus on God’s promises for your life
Your decisions come from God’s truth
God defends you with his truth
Rest from Jesus comes when you magnify God in your soul.
Luke 1:46 (NKJV) says, "My soul magnifies the Lord,"
How do you magnify God in your soul?
You focus more on God than your circumstances.
Focusing on God starts with a commitment to seek God with your whole desire.
Only God can give you rest when you commit to seeking him.
2 Chronicles 15:15 confirms that rest from God comes when you commit to seeking God with your whole desire.
The scripture says, “And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.” (2 Chronicles 15:15 KJV)
God will give rest to your soul when you seek him with your whole desire.
May God's rest increase in your mind, will, and emotions.
Love and Blessings,
Tulani
