Prospering Your Soul Part 1

The soul functions by prospering the mind, will, and emotions.

It is a desire of the heart.

3 John 1:2 (NKJV) says, "Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."

Prospering the soul is growing spiritually, increasing, and advancing in your mind, will, and emotions.

There are three benefits to your soul prospering. They are the following:

1. God reconciles you back to him as a new person in His image. (2 Corinthians 5:17-18)

2. God restores your soul psychology from what affected you negatively. (Psalm 23:3)

3. God fulfills your heart's desires. (Psalm 37:4)

Depression paralyzed my soul. I was disappointed in my past. I dreaded certain parts of my life and was discouraged about my future.

Disappointment, dread, and discouragement block your soul from prospering. They are signs of unfulfilled desires in the heart.

Psalm 25:1 (NKJV) says, "To You, O LORD, I lift up my soul."

I gave God the shame, guilt, and pain in my soul.

Healing from depression came by prospering my soul.

Prospering your soul comes from your spirit. God becomes the source to advance your soul when you lift your mind to God.

The key to prospering the soul is setting your affection on God.

Colossians 3:2 (KJV) says, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."

One meaning of affection is bending the mind towards a particular object.

Colossians 3:2 (NIV) says, "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."

Setting your mind on God is to love God with all your heart, soul, and mind.

Jesus said in Matthew 22:37 (NIV), “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."

It is the first and great commandment confirmed in Matthew 22:38.

Your love for God increases as you grow spiritually.

Therefore, it is vital to examine your love for God.

You may ask yourself, "How can I increase my love for God with all of my heart, mind, and soul?"
