Taking Pleasure In Being Made In God's Image

The Lord made us take pleasure in being made in His image.

Genesis 1:27 (NLT) states, “So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”

 The Lord reveals God-given desires when you take pleasure in being in God’s image.

What is the image of God?

First, it is important to understand that Jesus is the image of God.

Colossians 1:15 (NIV) says, “The Son is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”

What does this mean?

It means we are to think, act, and use our emotions like Jesus.

It is a truth to live by daily to experience desires in your heart.

I find myself being critical of myself before or after I do something.

I learned by growing spiritually that it is wrong to be critical of myself.

The image of God is my new nature. My old nature that I am critical of is dead.

Colossians 3:3 (NLT) states, “For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God.”

The image of God reflects what God thinks.

One meaning of image is a representation of anything in the mind.

Your image reflects what you think of yourself.

Proverbs 23:7 (KJV) says, “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:”

Thinking God’s thoughts transforms your mind in growing in the image of God.

You read God’s thoughts each time you read scriptures in the Bible.

Make the truth of God’s thoughts dominate thoughts in your mind, which reflects God’s image of who you are. It's one way to take pleasure in being made in God's image.
