Do you often get a desire to do something? It may be to improve a specific area in your life or to be a better person. The urge is God’s grace seeking divine influence on your heart. God’s grace is knocking on the door of your heart to fill the void in your heart.

Dread, disappointments, and discouragement are barriers that block God from influencing your heart. Your desire for God opens the door of your heart to God.

Desire is defined to influence the will to take action. God’s grace empowers you to take action when you desire God. The desire to be more comes from your spirit.  Your spirit is the root to fulfill this desire.

Your spirit includes the following:

  • Your image (God’s image): To think, talk, act, create, love, imagine, and serve like God

  • Your talent (God’s gift): To provide solutions through the works of God’s hand

  • Your influence (God’s grace): To serve people under God’s influence

Your image, talent, and influence are what God needs to fill the void in your heart. The void expands in your heart when you don’t make this a priority.

This void comes with sorrow. Sorrow is the root to dread, disappointment, and discouragement.  The consequence for Adam and Eve eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil is sorrow. In Genesis 3:17 (KJV) God said, “In sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;”

Eve desired this tree after she saw of pleasures to eat from it. Adam ate from the tree when Eve influenced him. Their desire separated them from God and the tree of life.  Desire lost meaning.

Desire changed to seek what gives pleasure. Pleasures that involves what you see, touch, taste, smell, or hear.  The purpose of living is the meaning of desire. You receive pleasure from God when you desire the purpose of living.  It starts with the priority to be more from your image, talent, and influence (spirit).

You connect with the tree of life when you make the desire to be more a priority. Proverbs 13:12 (KJV) says, “Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life. The tree of life is whatever you need from God to be. You experience life without sorrow.  God’s blessing flows into your relationships, health, career/business, and finances.

Proverbs 10:22 (KJV) says, “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” The blessing flow when you make it a priority to live from your image, talent, and influence.

God fulfills your desires through personal growth. The root of personal growth is to grow from your spirit under God’s grace with a spiritual mindset. 2 Peter 3:18 (NIV) says, “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.”

How will you make the desire to live from your image, talent, and influence a priority?
