Every day there is an opportunity for someone to offend you. The GOOD NEWS is it's okay to ignore them! :) It's hard to ignore offenses from people you care about. Especially when they misunderstand you. That's okay too, but I say this with empathy and compassion. It's not easy but God will make right whatever concerns you. Here's why it's okay to ignore offenses when they come your way: God set you apart from certain people and environments before your birth. Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV) says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart..." God set you apart to live in the truth of who you are. Some people's opinions of you are against the truth of who God made you. People's opinion of me was one area I learned to overcome through spiritual growth. There are many times I had to ignore offenses as they came my way. Proverbs 19:11 (NIV) says, "A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense." I continue to learn to overlook offenses through spiritual growth. Who offended you? You learn how to ignore offenses through spiritual growth. You keep an open heart for God-given desires to flow when you ignore offenses. People will misunderstand you. It's okay if people misunderstand you. God set you apart from people's opinions of you to fulfill your purpose. Offenses from people are a matter of spiritual growth. God is doing His good work in you. Ignore the offenses. You are God's masterpiece. P.S. God defends the truth of who you are. He becomes your defense when you overlook offenses. "He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defense; I shall not be moved." Psalm 62:6 (NKJV)
