Why Should You Grow In God's Wisdom

“This is when you would quit”, God said to me as I sat discouraged dealing with an offense. This was an important moment of growth for me.
I was learning in real time the reason I would quit in the past. God's wisdom was showing me the right way to move forward. I had the opportunity to either grow or quit pursuing my calling at that moment of discouragement. I chose to continue to grow in God's wisdom.
I share this story because God's wisdom is needed to execute God’s plans for your life. God wants you to be successful living in the fullness of who you are in Christ. God’s calling and mission for your life is about “Being” all you were created to be. This is where wisdom comes into play.
Jesus came into the earth as the son of man. This means Jesus gave up his divine nature by submitting to the law of human nature. Jesus had to live by the law of human nature to fulfill his mission on the earth. Luke 2:52 (NIV) says, “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.” This is the same for you. You must grow in wisdom to fulfill your mission in the earth.
What is wisdom?
Wisdom is the right use of knowledge. God’s wisdom gives you the right knowledge to live God’s plans for your life. It’s your defense to pursue your heart's desire. Ecclesiastes 7:12 (KJV) says, "For wisdom is a defense." Wisdom is your protection that resists anything that opposes you and your heart’s desire. Wisdom is what God gives you when you say yes to a God-given idea. Proverbs 2:6 (KJV) says, "For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”
God gives you wisdom by instructing you on how to take action on an idea. Wisdom will show the people to connect with. For example, God instructed me to connect with the John Maxwell Team when I didn’t fully know my calling. I connected to mentors who helped me grow in my calling. Later, I connected with coaches who helped me sharpen my skills for my calling. This is why it’s important to get an understanding of your idea/vision from God.
How do you understand a God-given idea?
Your heart is a place where you get an understanding of how to execute an idea. Proverbs 4:7 says, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” God wants you to get an understanding from your heart. You will not understand an idea God gives you from people's opinions nor cultural expectations. This is when personal growth is needed. You began to understand with your heart as you grow in God’s wisdom.
How do you grow in God’s wisdom?
Having the attitude of “ I Know” was the link to me quitting. I made decisions with knowledge based on past success. You grow in wisdom when you remain teachable. Jesus, Son of God went to the temple to expand in God’s knowledge. Luke 2:42 (NIV) says, After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.” Allow the Holy Spirit to lead you to people and places to grow in God’s wisdom. John 16:13 (KJV) says, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.”
Your success is guaranteed when you grow in God’s wisdom!
