I believed for many years I had to fix my life before I said yes to God’s calling for my calling. I would feel disqualified when I failed at fixing myself. Guilt and shame came between me and God. I stopped trying and allowed excuses to be the reason why I didn’t say “yes” to God.

I learned through my spiritual growth journey that it is not my job to fix my life.

It's God's job to fix my life. Jesus paid the price and chose you for your calling. This means you are qualified when you are depressed, unmotivated, angry, or have bad habits.

How do you say yes when you feel you are not ready for your calling?

You become a disciple of Christ. Your calling is connected to you being a disciple of Christ. When you say “yes” to your calling, you become one of Jesus's disciples. One meaning for disciple is a learner. The Holy Spirit will teach you how to grow spiritually while taking action on your calling. John 14:16 (CEB) says, “The Companion, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I told you.”

The benefits of discipleship come with the power of discipline and motivation. The Holy Spirit will teach you how to be disciplined and motivated in your calling.

What does it take to be a disciple of Jesus?

It takes commitment. Your commitment to your calling will cause you to experience the benefits of discipleship. I challenge you to identify if you are committed to your calling. Next, identify what sacrifice do you need to make to be committed. In other words, what are you willing to give up for your commitment?

You are qualified for your calling! God is waiting for your yes and commitment!
